In his speech, the Deputy Minister of Sport and Youth of South Africa described this day as a turning point for the African continent, stating that African freedom fighters, with the help of global supporters of freedom, were able to defeat colonialism and establish sovereignty over their lands.
The independence of African countries is considered a significant achievement for us, and we will strive for the continent to achieve economic development so that its people can benefit from progress and economic growth. Sustainable development will be one of South Africa’s key goals and policies during its presidency of the G20.
