South Africa's foreign minister said at the World Summit Against Apartheid: Palestine's freedom must be unconditional. The World Summit Against Apartheid began on Friday in Johannesburg for three days.
In the opening ceremony of this conference, Mrs. Naldi Pandor, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of South Africa, referring to the suffering of the Palestinian people during the 75 years since the establishment of the State of Israel, called for an immediate ceasefire in the occupied territories and to deal with the war crimes committed on the charge of Israeli genocide.
Pandor, who spoke on behalf of the South African President, said: The United Nations and civil society from around the world, as they fought apartheid in Africa and helped the people's struggle against the apartheid regime, should once again be united against Israel's oppressive policies to end the apartheid regime. The occupation and oppression against the Palestinian people have united and taken steps towards the formation of an independent Palestinian state centered on the Palestinians' right to self-determination.
She added: South Africa will do all its efforts in this direction and will stand by the Palestinian people.
She said to the Palestinian people: You will see your freedom like the people of South Africa.
Pandor emphasized: Palestine's freedom must be unconditional. Over the past thirty years, our country has shown its commitment to Palestine and we want its freedom with one voice. All the previous governments of Nelson Mandela, Mbeki, and Ramaphosa were of the same opinion about Palestine and still are.
She added: The South African government will continue its actions within the framework of international laws to protect the rights of the Palestinian people, including the right to self-determination, as well as the lives of Palestinians in their land, which are in serious danger.
South Africa's foreign minister said: "We will take any necessary action based on our ability to preserve the existence of the Palestinian people, to put an end to the racist and genocidal actions of the Palestinian people. We will not rest until the freedom of the Palestinian people is achieved."
