Iran demands urgent UNSC meeting on Israeli attack on consulate
.
Ambassador and Charge d’ Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the United Nations Zahra Ershadi has written a letter to the UN Security Council following an Israeli air strike on the Iranian consulate in Syria, demanding an urgent UNSC meeting to categorically denounce the violation of international regulations.
This letter states: "The present correspondence was prepared following the clear violation of the norms and principles of international law by the Israeli regime. The occupying regime of Israel has launched a heinous and hateful terrorist attack against the diplomatic facilities of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the Syrian Arab Republic. In the afternoon of April 1, 2024, at 4:45 p.m., the diplomatic facilities of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Damascus were targeted by Israeli air and missile attacks from the occupied Golan Heights. This terrorist attack led to the tragic martyrdom of at least five Iranian personnel, including senior military advisers, and the complete destruction of Iran's diplomatic facilities.
